Construction On New Ocean City Beach Patrol Home Begins

City officials gathered this morning with city staff and members of the Ocean City Development Corporation to break ground to begin construction for the new Ocean City Beach Patrol headquarters. The new three-story building will be located at the corner of Talbot St. and South Philadelphia Ave., which is directly across the street from its existing location.

Shore Transit Announces Route Changes

SALISBURY , Md.- New routes for Shore Transit will go into effect early next month, the Tri-County Council for the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland announced Monday. Shore Transit provides public bus transportation to Wicomico, Somerset and Worcester counties year-round.

Probation, Fine For Route 50 Bridge Rollover

A Princess Anne woman who rolled her vehicle at the base of the Route 50 bridge in Ocean City on July 20, closing the westbound lanes of the span for over an hour and snarling traffic in the downtown area, pleaded guilty this week to driving under the influence per se and was granted probation before judgment and fined $500. Around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 20, Ocean City Police responded to a reported accident in the westbound lanes at the foot of the Route 50 bridge involving an overturned vehicle.

Less People, Less Crime Reported In OC So Far In '14

Crime statistics for the month of August continue to reflect a decrease in overall crime in Ocean City so far this year, remaining consistent with the downward crowd trend seen in 2014. According to the report, August's total calls for service, including traffic stops, business checks and assistance to citizens, totaled 13,261, which is a 2.1-percent increase from August 2013 when there were 12,983 calls for service.a Out of that total, 9,664 were officer initiated, which is a 2.6-percent increase from August 2013, and 3,597 were citizen initiated, which is a 1.0-percent increase from August 2013.

Grand Jury Indicts Suspects Over Man's Death: Indictment Reports...

A Worcester County grand jury last week formally indicted two local men for their roles in the death of a Pennsylvania man following an alleged brawl on a downtown street in late August. Caleb Edwin-Earl Ochse, 27, of Ocean City, and Christopher Blake Kendall, 22, of Wilmington, Del., were indicted on several counts including manslaughter, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, affray, disorderly conduct and intoxication-endanger another for their roles in the melee that allegedly led to the death of Justin D. Cancelliere, 37, of North Whitehall, Pa.

Utility Plans Major Pole Project On Route 50; $43M Effort To Start Next Month
