An early look at the severity of flooding next spring is raising some concerns. The new report released by the national weather service points to saturated soil, and high river levels this fall as conditions that point to major flooding again this spring.

More than 1,000 homeowners and some farm owners whose farms have been in their families for generations may have to abandon their properties depending on which flood protection plan is selected for the Fargo-Moorhead metropolitan area.

Help's on the way for Oakport residents often hit by spring flooding. The township north of Moorhead is breaking ground Wednesday for a $3 million dike system to protect 400 homes in the area.

Interim flood mitigation projects are still moving forward across the Red River Valley.
