Howl at the Moon: Get into the sing of things at this popular nightspot

If you didn't check your inhibitions at the door, maybe a bucket of this chain outlet's 85-ounce signature drink will help (multiple straws provided for sharing.) At the very least you'll be expected to clap along, and if you really want, the long bar on a raised level at the back allows you blend in with others on the barstools.

On the stage, grand pianos facing each other accommodate the singers and the brave souls lured onto the stage to belt out tunes, from Broadway shows to Top 40 hits.

Ta-Boo: Palm Beach elegance without being stuffy

At age 63, Ta-Boo looks marvelous. Sure, like many of its age on the island of Palm Beach, it has had a little work done over the years. More important, its spirit remains as youthful as ever.

Midevening, the bar running the length of the narrow, hearth-tiled lounge is jammed. Sometime between 9:30 and 10:30 on weekends, tables are cleared from a section that becomes a dance floor.

Well-dressed couples, most in their 30s and 40s, dance on the wooden floor to '60s and '70s dance hits: Mony Mony (Tommy James), I'm a Believer (Monkees), Baby Come Back (Player), Stayin' Alive (Bee Gees), Low Rider (War), Aquarius (Fifth Dimension) or I Think I Love You (Partridge Family).

Curious patient Googles doctor, discovers sex offender

A curious patient who did an Internet search discovered that the man treating her for arthritis in Oakland Park didn't have a license and was a sex offender, authorities said.

The woman scheduled an appointment to be treated at the Center for Rheumatology, Immunology and Arthritis by Dr. Reginald Phillips, 50. Before the treatment, however, she decided to search for his credentials on Google, said Keyla Concepcion, spokeswoman for the Broward Sheriff's Office. She found that he was sentenced in 1997 to more than seven years in prison for sexual battery and had his license revoked, Concepcion said.
