Fender bender ends in Oakland Park shooting death
An argument between two men angry over a minor car accident ended Thursday morning when one of the men fatally shot the other, authorities said.
David Figueroa, 28, of Lauderdale Lakes, died en route to Broward General Medical Center, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.
The man accused of shooting him, Thomas Thompson, 50, of Fort Lauderdale, was questioned by investigators but not arrested. The State Attorney's Office is reviewing the incident.
Authorities believe Thompson shot Figueroa after he pummeled Thompson and chased him to his van.
Police: Road rage prompted fatal roadside shooting

Curious patient Googles doctor, discovers sex offender
A curious patient who did an Internet search discovered that the man treating her for arthritis in Oakland Park didn't have a license and was a sex offender, authorities said.
The woman scheduled an appointment to be treated at the Center for Rheumatology, Immunology and Arthritis by Dr. Reginald Phillips, 50. Before the treatment, however, she decided to search for his credentials on Google, said Keyla Concepcion, spokeswoman for the Broward Sheriff's Office. She found that he was sentenced in 1997 to more than seven years in prison for sexual battery and had his license revoked, Concepcion said.
