Read the "millionaire next door" teachers are a good resource for many companies. teachers have great educations skills and for many years left their profession in droves to pursue careers in real estate and other trades. they adapt, are flexible, self educating, and work hard. I think efforts at teaching them coping skills are shortsided. No one ever discusses what should be done to retain teachers at the school or administraive level, but this is a start.

Teaching today's children is a tough job and throw in the parents that believe Junior has a right to be disrespectful and disruptive, that will make most change professions.
Interesting that the writer would use the words "soldier on". Get back to teaching the 3 Rs and enforce disclipie and that should reduce the number of dropouts. European school systems identify the kids that arent into academics and place them in Trade schools. |

Too late for me, I already moved on. It's not just the students that are impossible, it's also the school administration. Favoritism, back stabbing and affairs are alive and well in the EPISD.

You can have all the conferences in world ,with what ever famous bshtr,it will NOT TEMP the teachers to stay!!!What I would recommend is two teachers assistants at 5 hours each{ NO Benefits }along with 1 teacher. This would alleviate some of the stress on the TEACHERS and students. The 1st{5 hour} assistant should come in with the teacher. The 2nd assistant could come 1 hour before the 1st one leaves. With a proper raise, parents involvement, and community input, it might just work. This is my idea, mainly because I HAVE seen what the teachers put up with!!! And because teachers will never get paid as much as the sports people do and that itself is an injustice!!!!

I have always been for this. They don't like when you"track" children. It might hurt their ego or their self esteem. |

The profession of teaching has become a job. There is way to much paper work for a teacher to do before classes are even taught. It used to be a great career where people were free to teach what was necessary. But NCLB has totally destroyed the profession with its standards.

you know why teachers quit, Because they do not get the support from the principal at the beginning of the school year. Teachers are set up to fail... that's why.. any one with to comment on my opinion, I welcome it.....
