The North Kansas City School District is making big plans to celebrate a landmark milestone by remembering the days when teachers taught all students in a single room and slate and chalk were used instead of paper, pencils and Macintosh laptops.

Prosecutors have charged a Northmoor parolee with a hate crime for allegedly beating an African-American man who tried to break up a fight between the parolee and his father.

Northmoor, MO, is a small community between Riverside and Parkville. It's been 20 years since the accused was the top law enforcement officer in the town, but the allegations are just as upsetting.
