Minutes after a Walgreens store manager began a pre-dawn staff meeting Saturday, an unexpected customer showed up at the still-closed Miami Shores pharmacy.
Wielding a gun, the man forced the employees to the ground and later shoved the manager outside and into the manager's beige Honda Civic. But when Miami Shores and Miami-Dade police officers confronted the suspect in the parking lot, he didn't surrender.

The North Miami Council agreed at its Oct. 23 meeting to join the Sister Cities International program.
Council members, after a long discussion, also decided to forge its first relationship with Trieste, Italy.
Sister Cities International is a nonprofit organization that links up cities in the United States with international communities. Membership will cost the city $339 per year.
Mayor Kevin Burns said the program was a way to help other cities and learn from other cities.
Though the council unanimously agreed on Trieste, because it was similar to the city in several ways, including being a coastal city and having a major university. Read more
