Great, now we are gonna have a roomful of nutjobs deciding warrant articles. More reason to change the form of town government to that of a city.

Volunteer reps ignored
|
Four Billerica residents showed up early in the Town Meeting schedule, this past Fall, to be caucused in. We all stood around for an hour before being told the Meeting had started and we could go home.
No one had bothered to caucus us in. The town clerk knew we were all there and did nothing about it.
So, don't whine about not having enough citizens volunteer. You treated volunteer Town Meeting reps very poorly.

I agree with Billerica Native. The Moonbats are moving into town and they have no clue on how a town operates. Billerica is going down the tubes.

Moonbats are right! No one wants to volunteer to sit in a room for hours and watch the same people go to war over every single issue. A city form of government is the way to go at this point.

Has anyone checked to see if the logic works? Is 47 seats out of 240 enough to accomplish the task?

Now we have political posturing and strategy at work.We are now trying to fill Town Meeting with the Billerica Watch group and the town and school employees.Sounds fair and unbiased! This form of government is no longer working in a town as large as Billerica.Individual camps strategize and plant people to cut off debate before both sides can get a fair shake. Many of the reps are in it for their own personal gain i.e. contracts, stop projects they disagree with.

True. But no one is stopping the avg citizen from running to protect their interests either.... People get the govt they deserve, if they want more influence they can run like anyone else.
