It was a split decision, 5-3, but in the end Prince William supervisors told a West Virginia couple Tuesday they couldn't build a home on their 16-plus acres of Nokesville property.

Sorry. It's THEIR property. Since when does the government tell folks they can't build on their own property?

I do not know the details of this story, tied looking them up but no luck, BUT if the County did not approve the simple building of a home on a 16 ACRE lot, there has to be a reaosn! Maybe it doesn't perk and no County sewage, maybe no water service and again no County service. Nokesville is an extrememly rural area although it is growing rapidly. Mayeb the home was going to be a ramshackle shack and they wanted a more appealing for the neightborhood home, don't know, can't say but again why did 5 Supervisors vote against the home? Must be some kind of a reasonable reason.

Okay I found the story and have very little sympathy for the owners. They knew, or should have known, the problems with the sewer hookup. Sounds like a lawsuit against the original Realtor, or even the current one! Also the County siad they could build a Church, don't churches have bathrooms and hence sewer hookups?! Just sell the 16 ACRES to a large Church looking for a place to build and then the County will be forced to let them hook up to the sewer! Not ap roblem and probably LOTS more money for the current owners!
