I know that these families are grieving & I feel for their loss...however they also need to realize that even if this young man was driving while intoxicated, their son's chose to get into the vehicle with this person & allowed him to drive this way..so therefore they too bare some of the responsibility for which they paid with their lives...nothing is ever easy when accidents like this happen...it is far easier to blame the living, than to spread blame among all concerned, living or dead...my heart goes out to all....

If the driver was drunk, why were these "adults" letting him drive in the first place? Everyone knows that you don't get in any vehicle if the driver is drunk.

I understand that all the guys should hold some responsibility. Yet, I think the problem this mother is facing is that the law let this man drive again and again instead of enforcing a more strick sentence for his repeat offenses. This is a hard situation since the guys were all friends. Yet, I feel for this family and his little boy who will never get to grow with his father. He will never share those memories again. It's important for us to forgive; yet I think that would be a lofty thing to ask of this mother at this time. She has to be able to grieve the loss of her son.

I have to wonder if a drug or alcohol test was performed on the two other men? What if.... this man was the driver best suited to drive? I know that it was a tragedy, and I know very well that the families are suffering... including the drivers. These were friends that went rafting together earlier that day. What a horrible thing to have happened. I feel for the families of the men as well as the driver who has to grieve the loss of his friends, knowing that he was the driver, intoxicated or not.

Sorry for there lost this wound that may never heal to loose a child has to be heart breaking ! Drunk driver laws need to be stricter than slap on the wrest it needs to change to one year in prison not jail! After that every time there caught 4 years add ! Plus some kind of community service that will stick with them something harsh! Plus make them attending meeting where people have lost love one's from drunk drivers! That state is responsible for the drunk driver laws write your Governor or congressmen ! Do what every it takes make the laws stricter on these people who are willing to get behind the wheel and take a chance on taking a life!

Don't read the comments posted here, they will not make you feel better, they will continually make you angry. People are going to attack your friend and all else involved. That's just the way this forum works. I don't understand why, but, it is. They attack, and make jokes.... because it is not thier loved one that just died, or was victimized.

All the laws in the world can't change some things. You can revolk license but people drive daily without one so what good did it do. I agree with most of these posts. You know if you are getting into a vehicle and the driver has been drinking. Why put all the blame on the driver, all were adults and acted irresponsible. They all are guilty. This is what is wrong with so many kids in this country today. It is always someone elses fault. Come on mom, sorry for your loss but don't put all the blame on the driver, your sons weren't forced into the car against their will.

After a day of rafting? I am going out on a limb here...I doubt any of the boys were in any shape to drive. It seems he needed to find a different set of friends if this driver already had problems with the law. I am sorry for the family and especially for his son who will never know his father completely as he grows up. I don't think anyone is being negative, I think they are just speaking the truth about things. If you can't handle the truth, then please do not read these forums, they can get really brutal.

These two young men will be missed deeply by family and friends and never forgotten. Whether Crase was intoxicated or lost control, he will carry the pain of August 31, 2008 the rest of his life.

How is it that this guy went through 3 alcohol assessments on 2 DUI accounts and an arson account still have their liscence? i understant the alcohol assessments are just to assess how much alcohol you consume in a day, week, month, or whatever, but WOW, how rediculous is it for someone to have been pulled over TWICE for DUI, one of which he had an open container, to still have their liscence? And as for people thinking these other guys were drinking, maybe. but thats not what matters here, what matters is that a family is without their son, a little boy is without his father, and his friends are without him, just because ONE guy who has had a full past with DUI's in it is STILL BEHIND THE WHEEL...when will it stop?

FYI, Aaron was a good guy, who would do anything for anybody. That bike you see in the pic's is the first bike i ever rode. He didn't hang out with people like this Crase guy, he was riding with a friend that ended up riding with Crase. It's easy to point a finger, but i don't think there is anybody on this forum that has never made a mistake before.

I don't think anyone was slamming your friend, Nick. You, like everyone else, have so many unanswered questions about the how and why of things. I am sure when they got in the car, they did not know what was going to happen. It IS a shame that this guy was still driving after all of the offenses, but he was not put in jail after the 2nd offense, and unfortunately, there is nobody to monitor this person to make sure he did not drive, and how do you do that, exactly? He will face consenquences.I can't imagine losing my child in any manner, and I suspect I would be angry at the driver, also. It is so easy to blame the surviving person because the dead can't speak for themselves. The report stated that there was not a smell of beer at the scene of the accident, and perhaps they were all sober. The toxicology report will be returned soon.
