Vermont State Police have charged 22-year-old Adam Page of Newport for stealing the Newport City Elementary School bus, which has now been declared totaled.

A Vermont woman who admitted that she had unlawful sexual encounters with a 14-year-old boy will spend at least 10 years on the sex-offender registry.

Keith Flynn had only been Orleans County state's attorney a few weeks when he got a phone call from the Newport police on the morning of February 12, 1999.

Two soda bottle bombs exploded, damaging a residence in Newport late Wednesday night, and authorities found at least six other unexploded devices at the scene.

Work on a bridge in the northern Vermont city of Newport is about to resume. Traffic on the Railroad Square bridge, also known as Veterans Memorial Long Bridge, has been closed to traffic since last March.
