Kenneth Jones Named Citizen of the Year

Info courtesy of the New Ulm Enterprise

The New Ulm Chamber of Commerce honored Kenneth Jones as Citizen of the Year at its annual Awards Banquet Saturday evening, January 26th. Kenneth, was was completely suprised by the honor, was asked to give the Invocation and Benediction for the event, not knowing he was to be the guest of honor.

Kenneth is the deacon at St. Paul's Missionary Baptist church in New Ulm. He is currently serving on the committee for the restoration and remodeling of this 114-year old church. Kenneth is also the caretaker of Pope Cemetery in New Ulm, which was named for his ancestors going back as far as a great grandmother. After working in Bellville at a furniture factor, Kenneth decided to go into business for himself. In 1980, he opened KJ Uphostery A& Supplies. Over the past 28 years, he and his wife Wilma have upholstered and restored many pieces of furniture.

Kenneth has served as a board member for the New Ulm Water Supply and is currently the New Ulm Assistant Fire Chief.
