Danny and Renee Farris buy basil and other plants from Elizabeth Essen. The Farrises had searched through local greenhouses in Jefferson City and Columbia for fresh basil to no avail, but were able to pick some up on their first trip to the New Bloomfield Farmers Market this year.

The New Bloomfield Board of Aldermen received a progress report Thursday night on street improvements throughout the city financed by a $365,000 general obligation bond issue approved last year.

Luther and Mary have two children, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mary grew up in New Bloomfield and Fulton.
