The long battle over annexation of Mountainboro is almost over. Monday night, the Boaz City Council formally voted to accept the residents of the small community into their city.

The ordinance annexing territory within the town of Mountainboro into the corporate limits of the city of Boaz passed unanimously Monday at the regular meeting of the Boaz City Council.

Boaz Mayor Tim Walker hopes Mountainboro will become a quaint neighborhood when the town is annexed into Boaz city limits later this year.

Following what will be the final regular monthly meeting of the Mountainboro Town Council Tuesday, Mayor Johnny Willis proclaimed, "It is a done deal!" Willis was referring to Mountainboro being annexed by the City of Boaz.

In what will be its final regular meeting, the Mountainboro Town Council will convene at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the town hall.

Marshall County authorities made quick work of a Monday morning bank robbery in Boaz.
