1 If you are truly an advocate of feeding the hungry, then STOP giving them handouts and, instead, teach them how to grow and cultivate their own. You want to talk about "playing with billions of dollars", let's talk about all of the money that is pandered from the people through the media in support of countries undergoing food shortages or losses, of which they see only roughly 30% of, if that...You want to talk about THOSE "billions of dollars"? Look, the principle is simple...GIVE a man a fish and you'll feed him for a day, TEACH him to fish and you'll feed him for life. THINK about it, but STOP belittling NASA's efforts or undertakings, afterall, you DO realize that you wouldn't have the very technology you're using to post your comments on this website BUT FOR the discoveries made and technologies developed by, NASA, don't you?! |

1 I guess I know what business you are in....It is a waste of the tax payers money. I usually get asked if I would like to purchase something, the Government just take my money and NASA has their hand out, BIG TIME! You have all the stitistics, you must be a Lobiest for NASA. I don't claim to know how the system works.. |

The government doesn't "take" your money, rather, you agree to allow them to extract but 25 to 33% of your income for the maintenance, upkeep of this nation's infrastructure, public services (like 'education' and 'parks'), and the protection of you and your rights as an American to live free of tyranny and oppression from combative countries, as part and parcel with being a United States citizen. So tell me, for instance, do you and your family use but 25 to 33% of the roads, of the power to your home, of the water, of the phone or internet service, etc., etc., etc. It's not so much that I am a "lobbyist for NASA" as it is that I am a "lobbyist" (if THAT is the appropriate term), or rather a proponent, for the technological and scientific and intellectual advancement of humanity because I want us, as a species, to achieve our full potential, an observance which actually relegates me to the ranks of 'humanitarian'. |

You see, "US Marshall", as is the case, the handicap, with a great many people in the United States, albeit the World, you're just not looking at or seeing the BIG picture.
Now if you took the time to think about it you could likely come up with numerous benefits on your own that this discovery on the Moon, or NASA's endeavors, would eventually mean to you and yours when it comes to trickle down technological insights, mineral mining, and increased developmental commerce, as a few examples. Might I suggest that you, at least occasionally, take the time to look BEYOND the realm of existence that is your little piece of this World, to look beyond yourself, and have a gander at the existence that lies just outside of your relatively minute fishbowl sphere of influence (as is the case with us all) at what lies just within our reach save but for making the effort. We as a species, as a people, would not be able to enjoy all of the attributes and comforts in our lives that we do today but for someone or some group of people having the presence of mind, the intellectual perception, to look beyond what is to what could be and having the strength of character, the sense of adventure, the gumption, the balls, to make the effort to attain it. Think about it.... |

FWIW, here are some links to listings of spin off technologies developed by NASA that we use on an every day basis that serve to make our lives easier:
http://www.thespaceplace.com/nasa/spinoffs.ht... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NASA_spin-off Obviously, you cannot fault the endeavors of NASA. |

Sorry about the spelling Mr Lobbyist, I understand your efforts. When I read people are losing their jobs, their houses and their dignity, I have trouble seeing these expensive Space Travel projects being paid for by tax dollars that could be helping the sea people who are in real trouble NOW! Imagine losing your home or your job, how does that feel? I am O.K. but many other good people like you and I are in real serious trouble.....No home, no job.....That is ugly. |
