Poverty is indeed big business. You are not seeing the larger picture though. If more people were allowed to grow locally, there would be less crime. Supply and demand, and of course greed fuel marijuana drug crimes. Whether you like it or not, stopping the local growers sends more money to the South American drug lords that don't give a pinch of monkey crap, about you, and yours, nor me, and mine! The money the local growers/users would save would be a boost to the local economy. But, huge business, one being pharmaceutical companies own the politicians, and thus law enforcement. It's a huge scam, and people regularly swallow this, hook, line, and sinker. So, when you see on the news that a local pot patch was found, and destroyed, and the cops are patting themselves on the back, well,,, the cops just did their part in supporting the drug cartels in South America! It's a no brainer! Think about it! I know this probably stepped on some toes, but sometimes the truth hurts!

Have to agree with you. the war on drugs is big business, creates a lot of jobs, builds prisons. In addition the police have greater power. that makes the politics who are shovels so much shit our way feel safer.

He was high and caused a wreck that killed a woman and injured her granddaughter, he will pay for this, but what if the night of Rebecca's class reunion, the night she choose to drive home drunk, she had of had a wreck and killed someone would you call her a "fiend" or when Lewey or have ever you spell it gets out and drives when he is all drugged up, has a wreck and kills someone will call him a "fiend"? I have seen both of her grandchildren so doped up that they didn't know if they were coming or going.

I agree with you as well but the drug sweep is about the dealers. If we could get their asses off of the street for good and get the drug users some help with their problem this would be a much better town.

I agree with the post, but believe me, to get the REAL DRUG DEALERS would require out of state help when the major players in the drug world are the major players in our "justice" system. They run around busting small time offenders so they can have drug arrests to turn in and publish how many has been arrested and try to look like they are actually fighting the war on drugs when in fact they are financing it, planning it and having it protected. They will arrest nobody that is of any real importance in solving the problem...reason being, they don't want the problem solved because it isn't a problem for them unless the cash flow slows down considerably. I know for a fact that there has been instances of a Judge calling ahead to warn people he had signed search warrants on, calls are made as soon as the cops are out the door, in some cases the cops are involved.

yeah i think it's a damn shame that they had to put all that was arrested pictures in the paper this week, it was humiliating enough to put their names in there last week, but i think they went to far by putting their pictures in the paper. they act as they really done something big in rockcastle county and to be truthful they only got a few people on the bottom of the ladder that was not trying to get rich, but trying to support their addiction..some of them needs help and not humiliated over this.

What keeps prohibition going? Ignorance, brainwashed sheeple that believe everything the government says. Luckly many are starting to wake the hell up. Still there are way to many that are still blind.

This is true and anyone with any insight cannot deny the facts. Illegal drug activity in our county is to blame for far too many deaths, accidents, sexual and physical abuse in children and adults, elderly abuse, extremely high crime rate, poor economy......but yes, most of all, promising young lives are being stolen by these drugs. We have no choice but to take a stand!! We must do everything we can do to save those we love. Those who are addicted need help. Those who are dealing need time!! While they're serving their time, they should also get help with their problem if they too are addicts, but what they have done to our community has destroyed far too many lives to just be let go to do it again and its been proven that that is exactly what happens every time.

Look unless you have been in an addits shoes then you cant really say what in the hell needs to be done with them....... the bible says ye not judge or ye willl recieve judgement or something like that....... ppl in the rock deal cause they usually dont have a high school edu or a way to make it but to sell..... and the user ant be helped unless they want help... they have to be ready........ so you have to look at it aat the user and dealers side cause im sure that most of them have family also.......
