It's sad how people geel so much of a need to go out and demonstrate against the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, yet we are killing many more people on our own streets just for the sake of our desire to drink alcohol and drive.
In 7 years over 6 thousand Americans died in the Iraq war. In that same time 140 thousand Americans, men, women died in alchol related traffic accidents due to drunk drivers. Nobody demonstrates against that. In fact many anti-war demonstrators celebrate after a demonstration by consuming alcohol, supporting the industry that kills so many men, women and children.

Another death and another drunk driver. Until we put these people away for life this is just going to continue. We have never got tough on DUI, even when people are killed. Lotay is right on, we allow those at home that drink and drive to kill more innocents that all of our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Wake up people to the menace that is on your doorstep.

In November of last year Ronald Simon was arrested for driving under the influence. Yes, less than a year ago. Apparently either the DA or the JUDGE using their infinite wisdom saw fit to dismiss the driving under the influence charge and convict him only of being under the influence. Then back on the streets to kill this little girl. I hope the judge and the DA responsible for letting him slide on the DUI are made to be aware of this. By dismissing the DUI charge last year they will now not be able to make this a second conviction. Not that it will matter that much since this was a fatal accident. But to be able to use the first conviction to be used as a prior would help to give him a much harsher sentence.

And a little more checking makes me wonder, why would he need FIVE alias's? If that doesn't sound like a shady background I don't know what does. This man should not have been driving on our streets with our innocent children!

That will get him a year in jail. Unless it's his fifth DUI, in which case he'll get a couple.

He was lucky enough to get a second chance when they let his DUI be dismissed before. And how did take advantage of that? By driving on a suspended license and going out and drinking and driving again. And this time took the life of a little innocent girl. He needs to never walk or streets or drive our streets again. He has never learned from his mistakes before, and there's no reason to think he will even learn from this. He's probably sitting in jail feeling sorry for himself now, wishing he could go out and get a beer.

my husband and i saw the accident friday night. we were on the way home from pioneer town. what a horrible accident . we knew their must of been fatalaties. i hope the person who was driving along the side of us racing down the hill was not the person that caused that accident. we made a comment about how it was jack asses like that that cause accidents. when we arrived to the scene it sure looked like the same vehicle that sped by us. my prayers are with the family.

God bless you and your family Doug. Please accept this with all the all the love, sorrow and well wishes that that are felt for you and your family at this time, but, with all due respect, you're wrong when you say "God only knows why this happened". We all know exactly why this happened. This happened because this man did not care about the welfare and safety of others on the road, but instead cared only about his own selfish pleasure of drinking. He had been arrested for it before, so he knew it was wrong and the dangers of it. But he disregarded it all to go out and do it again. We don't even know HOW MANY times he has done it. But probably hundreds of times.

I can't even imagine how horrible this must be for your family. The only thing we can hope for is that everyone makes a full recovery. Nothing can lessen the sorrow you must all feel and the emptiness of knowing your loved one is gone. We can only hope that this man will never be on our roads again to do this to someone else. Justice for you neice will also mean justice for all the other little children that might have been in this mans path in the future. God bless you all, and my most heart-felt prayers and condolences for all of your family.
