Laurie Robison has been named assistant director, marketing and membership services at the association, while David Isbell, has been named career services coordinator. * The following were elected 2008 officers for the Lansing Area Safety Council: Steve Serkaian, president; Tom Wibert, president-elect; Steve Dougan, vice president; Kay Hoffman, treasurer; Brian McLeod, past president; and Suzy Carter, executive director. New members of the board of directors are: Tim Barron, Ed Hay, Joel Pinsky, Bob Sherer and Carol Wood. * Stella Cash has been named acting executive director of the Michigan State University Alumni Association and will chair the national search for the executive director of the association. Cash is special projects manager for Michigan State University's Department of Radiology and has served as chairperson of the national alumni board. * Jennifer Van Horn, senior attorney in the Grand Rapids and Lansing offices of Detroit law firm Miller Canfield Paddock and Stone PC, has been elected to the advisory board of the Jane Hibbard Idema Women's Studies Center at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids. * Mary Schafer, of Plante & Moran, has been elected 2008 chair of the Capital Region Community Foundation board of trustees. Mark Alley, Lansing Police Department, has been elected chair-elect, and Dennis Fliehman will continue as president. Cooley Law School; Rich Ramhoff, Lansing State Journal; and Carmen Turner, Boys and Girls Club of Lansing. * Independent consultant Jo Vanderstelt, of Charlotte, has been promoted to a group leader with the Bell, Calif.-based bedding and bath company Private Quarters. * Robert Smith, of the Lansing-based architectural firm Hobbs + Black Architects, received the 2007 President's Award from the American Institute of Architects Mid-Michigan Chapter. * A joint venture between Detroit-based Turner Construction Co. and Lansing-based The Christman Co. received a 2007 Build Michigan Award from Lansing-based Associated General Contractors of Michigan for their project the Metro Health Hospital in Wyoming, Mich. * Lansing-based firm Granger Construction was one of seven companies awarded a 2007 Build Michigan Award from Lansing-based Associated General Contractors of Michigan for the Grand River Avenue parking ramp at Michigan State University. * Laurie Koelling, of East Lansing-based Tomie Raines Inc., was named the 2007 Realtor of the Year by the Lansing Women's Council of Realtors Lansing Chapter.
