East Haddam Bank Robbery Prompts School Lockdown
A man armed with a knife, whom witnesses described as appearing young enough to be a teenager, robbed a Liberty Bank in Moodus on Tuesday, prompting officials and police to lock down a local elementary school and escort students to nearby homes.
Police are investigating whether the man persuaded a local school bus driver picking up students at Nathan Hale-Ray High School to give him a ride.
The man walked into the bank, located at 29 William F. Palmer Road off Route 149, at about 2 p.m, according to state police. He fled the bank with an undetermined amount of money. No one was injured, but he displayed a knife during the robbery. Read more
