Tama man sentenced to 15 years in deadly crash
A man who was driving a car that crashed, killing one person and injuring three others, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Carvell Wanatee, 21, was arrested after the one-car crash on the Meskwaki Settlement on Nov. 13, 2005. Police said Wanatee was intoxicated at the time.
Tremayne Youngbear, 19, of Montour, was a passenger in the car and was killed. Two other passengers and Wanatee were taken to area hospitals after the crash.
Wanatee, who was 18 at the time of the accident, moved to Arizona, which prolonged the investigation, said Tama County Attorney Brent Heeren. Read more
