For some reason, the chart of election results turned into a mess. The first number after the name is the vote count, and the second is the percentage of the vote.

I and my neighbors THANK GOD that those corrupt bums are out. I hope this is a lesson to Athens that Montebello is NOT for sale to them or anyone else.

Now it's on to the Recall which should be so easy. Who wants a Felon and a Money Launderer on the council anyway.

All is RIGHT in Montebello!

What more of a sign does Athens want?

No one cares about your trash cans, they care about the cost. And they care whether the council is bought off.

So let's just review:

Athens backs corrupt Rosie Vasquez, an incumbent, and loses...

Athens backs Jimmy who ends up with a bankruptcy
and tax liens, and loses...

Athens backs Jorge Manzur who is a tax dodger and moron who can't put a coherent sentence together, and lose...

Looks like they can't even pick decent candidates, let alone know when to give up.

They lost before they even started

Hard work really pays off!!!!!!

Thanks to all who put their life aside and dedicated valuable ideas, effort and most of all trust and faith back in what we want back.

Frank Gomez, I had known since before the elections and we have a great future ahead.

Molinari, I have also known for years and he will definitely continue to see ahead.

Barajas, is new to me. However, it seems that this combination will work.

Thank you voters!

To Jorge Manzur
People with disabilities are not "angels from heaven". They are people like you and I. They have feelings such as happiness, anger, greed, envy. How can you think they're "angels".

I am a parent too of an adult with a disability. Guess what, my dream for her is tha she be accepted for what she is. A woman with faults, talent, feelings, laughter, sadness, love, anger, triumphs, defeats. But above all, a person. not an "angel" but, just like you and I and everyone around us a person, yes, with many faults but much more goodness. She is a human being.

And I Thank Bill Molinari for understanding this.

Now that we got rid of one crooked politician back room deal maker Rosie Vasquez,we need to get rid of the other two.Kathy Salazar and Robert Urteaga.

Montebello needs to get back on track.February,2010 is when we vote to RECALL and rid our City Council of the last two crooked back room deal makers,Kathy Salazar and Robert Urteaga.

Also remember do not vote for Jorge Manzur and Jamshid (Jimmy) Javaheri in February to replace Kathy and Robert. They are also crooked and backed by Athens Rubbish Services.

I believe Jorge was referring to Down's Syndrome people. As the relative of a Down's Syndrome person, I can attest to the "angelic" innocence of these people. Their extra chromosome gives most of them a guileless, peaceful demeanor that is a well-known characteristic of these people. Just my interpretation.

You mean they don't have feelings? Funny because I have known people with Down Syndrome. They love, hate, get angry, feel proud, are happy, are sad. Maybe I missed something>

If Manzur is the parent of a Down's Syndrome child he knows full well all about them. He does not need to be talked down to like he is a child needing to be scolded. He may have other faults but calling his child an angel isn't one of them, for goodness sake.

I've worked with the developmentally disabled so I know first hand that these people are very "human" and should be treated with the same level of respect as everyone else. I remember one particular young man who was an inspiration to me because of the way he handled his disability. He had been very athletic until he suffered a near fatal swimming accident that left him with moderate brain damage. Instead of feeling sorry for himself or letting his disability get him down, he took a very courageous attitude and was extremely grateful just to be alive.

I also worked with people with Down's Syndrome and yes, they have a characteristically sweet disposition. A young lady I worked with was very assertive and she wanted me to teach her practical skills so she could be ready to face the world on it's own terms.

"Disabled" people (of any kind) are all "human", there's no doubt about that.

What I think "Humanbeing" and "Only Human" are objecting to is the tendency among SOME people (not everyone!) to get so wrapped up in the "disabled" part of their loved ones that they forget to see the "able" part of them and I agree, that's not fair. Once you start applying "labels" to people, it becomes far too easy to focus on the label rather than on the person.

I don't know Jorge Manzur so I can't say what he really thinks about the disabled community but based on the reactions expressed here, I think he definitely stepped on people's sensibilities and that's unfortunate for him.

I don't this his reference is anything to get upset about, it is his child. English is his second language. Where is he from originally?

I believe that Mr. Manzur is originally from Mexico. I don't believe he meant to be offensive when he referred to special needs children as "angels." I think he probably meant it more as a term of endearment but since people did take it the wrong way, then it was a poor choice of words.

Personally, I'm willing to cut him some slack on this point since English is his second language.

Montebello has dodged a bullet. We are not going to have to have a convicted felon for our Mayor!

The fact that Urteaga is currently the Mayor Pro Tem does not automatically make him the next mayor. That decision is up to the new council (majority), and they will most likely choose the highest vote-getter, Bill Molinari.

If you remember when Lopez-Reid was major, they named Bill Molinari the Mayor Pro Tem. In fact, Jeff Siccama even nominated Bill for the position. It was only a phony gesture to make it look like there was harmony on the council. Not for one second did they actually intend to appoint Bill as the next Mayor... but then Lopez-Reid and Bagwell lost the 2007 election and Siccama lost in the Recall election and Bill actually did become the Mayor after all.

The prospect of travel really appeals to you today, especially if you don't have any holidays booked for the foreseeable future. So be careful if you're out shopping and you happen to walk past a travel agent's, because almost before you know it you could be sitting in there waving your credit card around and consulting your diary for the best day to take off for the wide blue yonder.
