Molinari and Newcomers Gomez, Barajas Take Montebello City Council Seats

Well two out of three are new faces....that is better then zero.

Fairly predictable -

Javaheri and Manzur weren't serious candidates.

Looks like Molinari is in for sure and Vasquez is going need to rally to get 3rd place.

Barajas had wide-spread support and Gomez did well in the public forums (although he does come off as an intellectual snob).

Veneziano has a solid base, so he is still within striking distance of 3rd place.

Just as I finished the last entry, the latest update just refreshed and shows 18 of 19 precincts reporting -

I would definately have to say, that now we can all BE HAPPY. The three that were supported by Athems( Vasquez, Javaheri, and Manzur ) lost, after they poured all that money into their campaigns. Let that be a lesson to all future council People. Let that also be a lesson to Athems, you don't tell the voters of Montebello who are council people will be, or who has to be retired. Bill Molinari has always worked for the people, thats why he has been a councilman for so long. The people have spoken, No more Rosie Vasquez. Thats the best news ever, and more good news to comein February.

Jorge Manzur's platform was change and his dream to build "a Chuck E Cheese like place". WTF?! This guy had no chance.

I didn't vote for Vasquez, Javheri or Manzur because they were calling my house 3 or 4 times a day asking who was I gonna vote for. Sometimes, they would call within 5 minutes of each other. Not to mention the few times I would get calls from the same camp almost back to back.

Agree. This was a terrible campaign run with money but no brains. I got enough junk mail to fill one of the trash barrels. It was mostly stupid and a waste of money. The last straw was that truck with the P.A. system blaring all over the neighborhood.

Congratulations to the successful candidates. Let's hope that the residents of this once-great city will continue the housecleaning at the recall election. Hopefully, John Edwards, and all of those clinging to his coattails, will book a flight out of town. The people have spoken....and I think they have more to say, too.

FINALLY, Rosie Vasquez is OUT! Now maybe her and her husband will move away. I doubt it .... big egos equals another run at city council. And they have big ego's! She has always been bad news. See ya!

Congradulations to the winners. They ran a hard, albeit dirty campaign, but the people have spoken.
I was at the Vasquez campaign last night and was told by one of the city planning commissioners that there is a big mis conception regarding the hills and what the city can do with the hills. The commissioner reminded me that the hills are private propery and the city has no say so over what it can be put up there. they can only approve what is proposed for the hills. Makes you wonder if anything will ever be done.

Obviously you don't live in Montebello, and if you do take a look at the the 460's if you know what that is and then open you big mouth about who supported vasquez, javaheri, and manzur. Still don't get it, oh well hang on for the molinari spin, and be prepared for city tax increase and city employee layoffs,(hope your not one)and don't expect any new improvements in the city. Rosie should be glad to get out of this sad and lame city council.
