Yeah, the kids. Are you serious?

Will anyone care if he can help you out in an Emergency and he may be the only one to have power to reach out in a disaster? Oh, I see how it is, he stays at home enjoying a Hobby instead of out having a "cocktail" and driving. |
Yeah, sooo many disasters around here.
Move out if you don't like it.
this is america, anyone has the choice to have what ever hobby he or she wants. so if you dont like it move somewhere else, like in the middle of a corn field with nothing around you.

What if that thing falls during one of these "disasterous" storms? Onto someone else's property? This is the reason there should be covenants. No RV storage, outdoor storage, or any other hill-billy crap. You want to enjoy an intruding hobby, go move out to the country.

First of all, a Ham Operator is responsible enough to have his Tower anchored down with Guy wires. For those who don't know what those are, they are heavy wires that support the Antenna and spaced evenly enough as to where the antenna don't fall. It's a shame some New Breed of Yuppies are only concerned about themselves. |

You tell it. There should never be a law or ordiance stopping any ham from installing any antenna. |
Should I be allowed to put an inflatable dome over my swimming pool?
As long as it's in your yard there's no reason you shouldn't be able to. |
it cant look any worse then the antenna next to the police department. i heard they dont even use the thing.
It's a police station, jackass. They have antennas. Quit trying to stir the pot with your stupidity. It's not going to work, and you guys are going to look like hand jobs. |
Yeah, well, he's a HAM operator, jackass... and he lives in a country where people still have a right to do what they want on their own property. |
Did you not read the post? That it was a reply to the idiot commenting on the antenna at the police station? Read before you comment. Douche. |
You seem to be missing my point... it seems that you have a problem with a private citizen doing whatever legal activity he wants to do on the property he owns. Whether he wants to paint his house lime green, put up an in flateable dome over his swimming pool, put a huge search lite in his front yard, OR PUT AN ANTENNA IN HIS BACK YARD, it's nobodys business but his own. |

In my readings and ventures with neighbors and friends in town here are some things that I have heard:
My neighbor’s pool filter is always running in the middle of the night and keeps me awake. My neighbor’s lights are too bright and cause light pollution onto my property. I have a lung condition and my neighbor is always burning leaves. Should my neighbor be allowed to raise chickens on his property? The guy down the block has at least 9 non-working cars on his grass and driveway that it looks like a junkyard. The lady behind my property put up this ugly looking fence on her property killing the ambience of my yard. They shouldn't be allowed to build that giant house next to mine because I'm one of originals from Mokena and I don't like yuppies because they have stuff that I don't have. The trains are too loud and obnoxious. Someone needs to do something about that fox and coyote that keep running around my neighborhood because I have kids and they don't deserve to live in fear. I ride a loud motorcycle because loud pipes save lives and you'll just have to deal with it because my safety is more important than your sleep. This is a nice town and I think a majority of the people mean well. There’s nothing wrong with being able to have ones opinion. But some of us need to deal with it and some of us need to be better neighbors and think about others beside themselves. |
Yep. We need to think about how others pay their taxes, pay their house payments, pay any number of fees and so on so that they own that little slice of America they live on. America, that land of the free. Freedom to park a car in the drive way, fly an American Flag, have a fire in the back yard, let the kids play in a kiddie pool in the yard during the summer, or enjoy their HAM radio hobby by putting up an antenna. Nobody,*NOBODY* should have a say about what I do on my own property as long as it's allowed by state and/or federal law. NOBODY. If this gentleman takes the initiative to fill out the applications, get the building permits, hire a contractor to put the tower footing in (or do it himself), etc... than that's HIS business. In the case of FEDERAL law, the zoning board MUST accommodate him. HRA covenants, deed restrictions, state and local laws MUST allow for him to raise an antenna, per CFR Title 47, Chapter 1, Part 97, Subpart A, Section 97.15: "...State and local regulation of a station antenna structure must not preclude amateur service communications. Rather, it must reasonably accommodate such communications and must constitute the minimum practicable regulation to accomplish the state or local authority's legitimate purpose. " Couldn't get any clearer if it was drawn into flow-chart format. I'll even paste a link: http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/cfr_2008/octqtr... |
