She taught home economics / family and consumer science, and general science at Niles McKinley High School from 1974 to 2009.
Helen married Harry E. Dean Jr. in 1936, and together they had two children. She was a lifelong resident of Niles.

Laszlo G. Nemeth Sr., 77, passed away at 1:41 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013, at the Autumn Hills Nursing Home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Mattie Hart Hanners, 88, of West Main Street, died at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Salem.
He served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II and earned several ribbons and medals of honor, including six Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart with two oak leaf clusters and the World War II Victory Medal.
She served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1959. Joyce worked for Packard Electric as a laborer for 30 years, retiring in 1994.
