Holy cow, the agenda of the Orland city council cannot be so full that they cannot have time for a few minutes at every meeting for comment. Unless this is a already done deal. Hiding who Crystal Geyser was, accepting donations of water for the 100th Celebration on the assurance that Crystal Geyers would be the only supplier allowed, the lack of response to communty concern spells done deal.
Come on folks, it is our water. Do not buy Crystal Geyser, you might be buying your own tap water. |

I think it is interesting that a couple of years ago the city extented a sewer line out of town to a location that is directly across the street from where the Crystal Geyser plan is proposed. They were not hooking up to anything at the time. They just built the extention and left it.
Yep! I think the city council had this in the works for a long time. |

Let them come. They will supply jobs and at least bring something to Orland. Doubt if they could use any more water than all the subdivisions that went in in the last two years, now a lot of them look like skid row. Can't use any more water than the Arabs that have bought all the Ag land around and planting. Another thing that we need is a Super Market besides Sav Mor, but you would probablay complain about that also.

STOP THIS PROJECT NOW!
SEND Crystal Geyser PACKING! I think they crystal geyser could put a plant at fort brag and suck ocean water problem solved. Crystal geyser then could suck all the sea water they want end of story! |

All this weeping and wailing. The report says they will use about as much water as 50-60 acres of orchard or two averages homes. This is NOT sucking Orland dry as many fearmongers have declared. New homes are built every day and no one says a dam word.
Like any smart municipality they built sewer lines out to land that was proposed for development. Businesses/industry prefer to go where infrastructure already exists. Probably why Chico is so dead set against improving infrastructure. Sponsorships of anything are preclusionary. You won't see your favorite NASCAR driver with a SHELL patch on on shoulder and a CHEVRON patch on the other. This is not a plot or colusion this is normal and sensical business. So instead of dirt and weeds in a field you get 25 full time, year around jobs. I bet they will have 2,000 applications for those jobs and 25 families will be off unemployment/welfare and very grateful. |
||||
LET THE PROJECT IN !!!! Let's welcome Crystal Geyser. Jobs for the people of Orland, less water for the pot growers. Orland needs something here besides stores for employment. Are you afraid of growth? |
||||
Agree with you 100% |
||||
|
The NIMBY's think they are the majority voice of Orland only they are the loudest. Jobs and an increase in the tax base is what Orland needs. Joanne needs to stick to picking up roadside garbage as that is her main emphasis in life. She did nothing to bring jobs to Glenn County when she was on the Board of Supervisors. This is not a threat to farming nor to the water supply. It is a thimble of water compared to what is currently used for farming in the Plaza area. Come on Crystal Geyser, you are welcomed by the MAJORITY of Orland citizens.

Maybe they are OK, I just don't like the way the bottles of water were passed out in the council meeting, just like throwing it in the faces of people that were against it. That is grammar school stuff..Grow up, city council!! I really don't think 1-25 jobs are worth the problems that may come of this...I read maybe they would hire a secretary, from a quote in the paper. I didn't hear from the company about the 25 full-time jobs, I think you are pipe-dreaming!

"I really don't think 1-25 jobs are worth the problems that may come of this..."
What problems? You aren't looking for a job obviously. "I read maybe they would hire a secretary, from a quote in the paper. I didn't hear from the company about the 25 full-time jobs, I think you are pipe-dreaming!" Then you need to reread the story. 25 full time "jobs with benefits". 25 people off unemployment or welfare. 25 people buying products at local stores and paying local taxes. But for some it could be 1,000 jobs and it wouldn't matter. There will always be an excuse. |
||||
|
25 jobs, I'll bet they will relocate a crew from another plant that have decided is to costly to operate. Bring it on in... Lets just make sure that the tax system does its job.
