Douglas five-star schools double
Both of Douglas County's five-star schools are middle schools, according to rankings released by the Nevada Department of Education on Friday. Three of the county's four-star schools were at the secondary level, including Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School, Douglas High School and Whittell High School.

Exhibit In Minden Honors Fallen Heroes
An exhibit honoring our brave Servicemembers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan since 9-11 is on display in Minden. The exhibit is called "Always Lost: A Meditation on War" and is currently on tour at the historic Minden Inn.

A man accused of leaving his phone on to try and capture naked pictures of girls in their bathroom is scheduled to be arraigned in Douglas County District Court this morning. Michael Joseph Donovan, 55, faces several felonies in connection with the case.

Library director interviews this week in Minden
As part of the recruitment process for a new director, the Douglas County Public Library trustees is conducting public interviews at the Minden branch on Wednesday and Thursday. Candidate interviews are 9:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and a reception to meet the candidates 4:30-6:45 p.m. On Thursday, the candidates will make public presentations 9:45 a.m. to noon in the Liz Johnson Meeting Room.
