I can think of plenty of sane ways this money could of been used, starting with a REAL homeless shelter. Downtown is NOT going to have more tourists until there is more SANE business downtown meaning a lot less of this "Let's turn Silver City into Santa Fe" mentality. How about doing a total old west motif downtown and do weekend old west routines for the tourists? How about there's places to shop with reasonable prices that are open at REASONABLE times of day? Most of downtown is only open between 10am-4pm if that and barely open anywhere on a Sunday. Downtown has become a joke and it's also an area for the criminally inclined. This town goes through a lot of metamorphosis but the latest one is really just for certain people only which is a total unfair way to toss around money on crap that doesn't really matter. Don't forget to leave a space near the sign for Richard when he gets tired and needs a place to rest his back while he has his afternoon beer.

While your shopping our famous shops like thrift du jour or looking for shitty art, look for a trick named Roy. Stop in in the Buffalo with your family for lunch-it`s the tops. (sarcasm)

For better and worse, what makes Silver City different than the places our visitors come from is largely our downtown. Everybody has a walmart and a strip center.... but lots of places have lost what we have downtown. And visitors _do_ genuinely have a hard time finding it... just ask at the Chamber how many folks stop to ask for directions to an area that's just a block from where they are standing. I think the folks who are putting this together get a pat on the back, and the effort to maintain a downtown is vital to Silver City...

I think you are correct. On all your points. We are proud- we just don't want to admit it. I still get lost taking my family to lunch at the Buffalo. The archway will actually BE HELPFUL to me.

Daily Horoscope for December 5

Aquarius

It's a sociable and gregarious mood my dears, so it would be a shame to keep yourself to yourself. Not that there's much likelihood of that, because with the Moon in Leo and your seventh house of others, your popularity is on the rise and you're in demand. Why not go out with your other half, or meet some friends? Get everyone together for a drink or a meal.
