A Dallas County jury on Wednesday convicted a 60-year-old Mesquite man of animal cruelty with a deadly weapon for beating and drowning his dog last year. Robert Prichard admitted during testimony Wednesday that he hit his pit bull, Candy, more than once with a shovel and threw the dog in his backyard pool in an attempt to drown her.
