Jobless rates jump
“Most counties of the Upper Peninsula region generally record higher unemployment rates than the statewide average in January, because of fewer individuals in the labor force and reduced employment opportunities during winter”
The unemployment rate in the Upper Peninsula rose to 8.8 percent in January, seven-tenths of a percentage point higher than in December, according to the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth. via The Daily News
