Debate Builds Over How to Save San Saba River
About two miles beyond the entrance to Griffith Thomas' Block House Ranch in Central Texas' Mason County, a rock-strewn road dips down and comes to what is supposed to be the San Saba River.

Fort McKavett State Historical Site is about 23 miles out of Menard. To get to the Fort follow Hwy 190 for 17 miles and turn south on FM 864 for about 6 miles, the Fort is on the right side of the road.
