I hope they make it low income housing. That would be good for all the people who cannot afford to live in all the 2 flats that are in melrose park has built.

I also agree that this should become low income housing and they should make the new condo's on Division and 24th section 8 housing. This would help the poor out and make sure they have a great place to live in a nice town like Melrose Park. I hope Obama's makes this happen.

I have a job but I think that the tax payers in this state don't pay enough and should help out the poor more. I want all section 8 housing and low income housing to be built in Melrose Park. Melrose is so great that everyone should get to enjoy it. More diversity would be better. This is what America is all about. I also think that the grade schools in River Forest and Elmwood Park, namely St Luke’s and St Vincent should be forced to have at least 20% of the school be for families who can't afford it. This is only fair. Why should the poor's only option be public schools? I hope this happens and that we can all come together and make Melrose Park a utopia for diversity.

I couldn't agree more with low income. Isn't that what tax dollars are for. We're all americans and I think we should also welcome all undocumented citizens as well.

Undocumented citizens? Um...the "undocumented"...as some people like to euphemistically called those who have broken our immigration laws...are not citizens at all. We owe them nothing beyond basic human rights that you would accord everyone, even prisoners. But beyond that we owe them zip except to escort them out of the country ASAP.

I wish they would crack down more on people hiring them as without the job and money motive they wouldn't be coming here.

We did an amnesty in the past and that was fine; I was all for it. But I do not want another one or any attempt at controlling immigration will become meaningless if they know that they just have to sneak in here and wait long enough for another amnesty. Those who break our laws should not get to go to the head of the line when others who try to come here legally are made to wait. Some people seem to think we should just throw open the borders. I do not.

Heck no, will you please look at the cloths store we already have. At least Costco, is something all of us can use. Please can you see a nice store moving here, it wouldn't last long before it was trashed. Why do you think we don't have any.

Hellooooo, drive along 1st ave. you will see plenty section 8's. Why is it that Melrose should have all the crap....other suburbs attached to MP would be perfectly fine for section 8's

It would make perfect sense to make Melrose Park more diversified. Section 8 housing where kiddeland was would make the most sense. I also think that homes in Winston park should be turned over to low income housing. Also the condos on North and 1st ave should be mixed income. It is only fair to turn those units into mixed income. St Luks and St Vincent should take in at least 30% African American students who should not have to pay tuition and the school should be forced to teach African American history. These are some great ideas. As a Caucasian male from Oak Park I have to say that having African American children among the white children is so nice to see. Please make this happen so that Melrose Park can become more of a cultural center not just a place for Italian Americans. To bad for all those Italians that moved out they will never see a town like Melrose Park when it is 10% white 70% Hispanic and 20% African American. This will make the town so safe from crime and drugs.

Daily Horoscope for December 17

Capricorn

You're in the mood to spend some money today. That's fine if you've got it, because you'll have a wonderful time strolling around the shops. But it isn't such good news if you're supposed to be sticking to a strict budget because that will be well nigh impossible once you've seen something that catches your eye. It will keep saying 'Buy me, buy me!'
