Didn't end in death because the guy wasn't stupid enough to raise a weapon at the deputies. Others have been that stupid.

There is ALWAYS some ***hole who comes out and says "I knew something was going wrong with him. He's been acting strange."

Funny they only think this is significant AFTER some big event that will put them in the pathetic spotlight, even for about 10 seconds or so.

I hope one sorry day some criminal points a gun at you and see what you will do.

This guy got lucky. If he had a weapon, and pointed in the direction of law enforcement, the headline would have been different. It would not have mattered what law enforcement agency it was.

Only in humboldt are the criminals the good guys, and the police are the bad guys.(That could be the DAs new slogan!)

I completely agree with you! The EPD should take a lesson from the way law enforcement handled this incident. The man is in custody, no deaths, no criticism. Nicely handled.

If this fool indeed was hanging a puppy by the leash he should be hung by the same leash in front of that big totem pole for all to see (adults only, not for kiddo viewing) As far as police shootings...If you cooperate with the cops 99.9999% of the time you will not be shot. Be nice

I know the guy that had the standoff. He has a major alcohol problem. He needs to be locked up for good because of the fact that when he gets drunk and black out just like he did today, no one knows what might happen. I live 1 house down from him. Me and my g'pa got him the house he had, gave him food, never gave him money because it would go towards more alcohol, let him stay when he needed help. But now that we seen what he will be like after we helped him, his stealing aand breaking into houses (my house), we are done with him and hope he gets locked up for good

a flare gun is capable of shooting a regular 12 gauge shell, they teach officers about that. it's not like it was a harmless toy gun.
