A county commissioner in rural southwest Alabama was arrested Wednesday and charged with threatening a grand jury witness, using his office for personal gain and related offenses.

Aug. 18 -- A McIntosh teen is facing murder charges Monday. Mandreel Belton, 16, was arrested over the weekend and charged with the murder of Derrick Hill.

Washington County investigators were searching for a county commissioner accused of threatening to kill a witness expected to testify against him in a corruption case, Sheriff Richard Stringer said today.

But now, the Chief won't have to worry about how his son's actions will affect the department.

Some 100 McIntosh-area residents have sued Ciba Corp., claiming that the company contaminated their land with dangerous chemicals for decades.

Note: Montgomery Public Schools will have kindergarten registration from 9 a.m. to noon at all traditional elementary schools.
