The Warroad, Minn., school board voted this week to go to a four-day school week starting next fall to cut district costs.

The sun was shining Wednesday and there wasn't hardly a cloud in the sky. "This is a positive day," stated Dave Kjos, who was serving as master of ceremonies at the Alexandria Area YMCA groundbreaking ceremony that morning.

The Ogilvie School District, in a continuing quest to reduce its operating budget, is exploring the idea of implementing a four-day school week beginning this September.

Emily Van Klampenburg's initial reaction to the prospect of attending school only four days a week was that the time off would make life easier.
