The seventh annual Markleeville autumn open studio tour is scheduled for Oct. 3 and 4, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year's theme is "A Concert of Color." Each fall, Sierra aspens and cottonwoods create a symphony of music, hitting all notes of the color spectrum.

The old Alpine County school house is part of the museum. Curator Wanda Coyan and Assistant Joanne Oehlerking welcome residents and visitors to view the old schoolhouse, the jail, and the carriage house with a blacksmith shop exhibit, as well as the stamp mill, the only working one in the area.
