Smokers akin to farters

cit o mar said in the Marion Forum : Tobacco smoke stinks like crap to those who don't smoke. You may not mind the smell of your own farts, but you wouldn't want to be in a room eating where everybody else is farting. I used to smoke a lot, so I know that you who smoke can't understand this, but the rest of us do.

Finally a new law passed that will actually benefit us all. I am so glad that smoking in most public places will soon be a thing of the past. We will all finally be able to go to a restaurant or to a bowling alley without having to breathe the smoke from all the uncaring and non-courteous smokers out there. I do not care if people smoke....I do think it is their own personal choice, but so many smokers think it is their right to force the rest of us that don't smoke to breathe their second-hand smoke. Many like myself have allergies and breathing problems that tobacco smoke triggers reactions. I used to bowl at Maple Leaf Lanes for many years here in Marion, but I go so tired of leaving their every Thursday night with my head all stuffy, reaking with the stench of a thousands cigarettes and waking up on Friday morning with a pounding sinus headache. I do not understand why so many smokers are so adamant that is their right to force everyone to smoke their tobacco with them in crowded public places??? Some of us actually do care about our health and want to protect our lungs from future problems. Why on earth a smoker cannot go to a nice restaurant and sit down to a nice dinner for generally 30-45mins on avg. without seeing the need to light one up? This is such a stupid and selfish attitude to have and these type only care about themselves. My hat's off to our government for this new ban.....it's about time!

I agree with you Parental Guidance!!!

Until someone comes up with a process or cigarette that is smokeless, BAN THEM ALL from public places. And that is not just at enclosed areas. Parks, parking lots, boat ramps, sidewalks, etc. anywhere there is "public" gathering....we do not wish to smell your smoke.

To take away the ability to smoke in ALL piublic places is ignorant. Everyone has a right to decide what to do with thier bodies. I do agree with no smoking indoors, but to try and say no smoking outdoors is selfish on your part. When you are outside, there is no problem getting away from the smoke. Now, before you attack me, i am an EX smoker. I dont like it around me, but when i am outside with some who is smiking, i hardly notice it. This is a free country and no matter how harmful the habit may be, people have the right to do it.

Laws are only as good as they are enforced. Before smokers get their panties in a wad they need to look at some of our other laws on the books and how they are enforced. The first one that comes to mind is our laws on illegal immigration. How have they worked out. I believe all indoor smoking should be stopped unless it is a business that caters to smokers, such as a cigar shop and etc. One's right to smoke stops at the end of a non-smokers nose. I have no problem with someone that smokes outdoors except those that think the ground is their private ash tray. They seem to think the Butt fairy will clean up their mess.

First of all I don't smoke and dont care for it. BUT as a business owner the state doesnt have the right to tell me how to run my business. If you don't want to go somewhere there is smoke ,DON"T GO. They should either make them illegal or stop trying to tell us how to live our lives.

How about drinking of alcohol in public places? I don't like to be around drinkers. I don't frequent establishments that serve it. That is my choice. Talk about a double standard.

Do we non-smokers not have that same right? Even in many outdoor settings where people are in close proximity with each other, it is the same as indoors. We non-smokers have the right to NOT breathe your second hand smoker period....no matter what the setting may be. As far as your "free country" comment...if anyone wants to self harm their bodies, then they need to do so on their own time and in their own environments where it does nto affect the rest of us.

Excuse me? The state has every right to tell you how to run your business and they do! I should not have to avoid restaurants or other places just because there are some people there who have no concern for others. No one is trying to tell you how to live your life, only to respect the lives and rights of others. Also, what about the employees of some of these establishments that also do not smoke? They're in there for hours trying to earn a living and they should be provided as healthy of an environment as possible. Smoking in areas in close proximity of others is NOT nor is EVER necessary.

My own mother who is a heavy smoker (God love her) always uses this same lame excuse. I do not care for alcohol either, but not everyone who drinks is a drunk. You can sit in the same restaurant in close proximity with others who are drinking, but you don't have to drink their beer with them. In fact, unless you drink it with them, you won't even smell it let alone taste it. Tobacco smoke fills the entire area and even places who say they have "non-smoking" areas are only kidding themselves unless they have completely separate buildings. These two issue are in NO WAY even comparable.

Sorry....but it's not strict at all.....just a little courtesy that the irresponsible smokers could have done on their own.

Why is it that on almost every post of something interesting or of importance, some childish ones always resort to these antics?

Daily Horoscope for December 15

Taurus

Are you in listening mode today? Let's hope so because someone wants to bend your ear and they're hoping that you can spare the time and energy for them. Although your first instincts may tell you to give them plenty of advice, try to stop yourself volunteering it unless it's asked for. Even then, you may get the sense that you're really being asked to listen, not talk.
