Ironwood - More than 200 concerned citizens rallied in Ironwood Friday night in the parking lot across from Cloverland Cinemas to protest the Dec. 1 closing of the Ojibway Correctional Facility in Marenisco . You have to be kidding? What was going on when Ojibway was on the chopping block last year. It has been an entire year and NO ONE thought do to anything prior to the decision being made? HELLO??? Perhaps it is time to allow all those companies that wanted to move into Ironwood but were NOT PERMITTED to as the "elite of Ironwood" wanted to keep them out. You should have been more proactive a long, long time ago. Too late. Look at this as an opportunity to reinvent yourself? Who knows? This just might be a blessing in your life. Other doors will open....

I TOTALLY SUPPORT the State of Michigan - Department of Corrections - closing the "Ojibway Facility." Why? It makes me laugh that Ironwood "Small Business Owners" flatly REFUSED to allow new business to enter Ironwood. They "refused" to allow a Menards, Harley Davidson, VA Hospital, Culvers and Kohl's to come to Ironwood because they "wanted to keep it small." Ironwood has long suffered a very, very flat economy. No "new" people have come to Ironwood because no interest to expand is unilaterally accepted through Ironwood with their desire to "not change anything." For this city to "cry for help" NOW? This will further negatively impact their economy? Well..what do you think saying "NO" to new business did to your economy. The Small Business Owners run Ironwood. They refuse to be progressive. They refuse new business to enter the city. They do NOT represent the majority of citizens in Ironwood. Close the Ojibway. Perhaps THAT will spark the city to open their arms and embrace more revenue by adding new businesses.
