Is this a joke? If not it should be and not a very funny one at that. See if I got this straight? A boy on summer vacation from school decides to make a little money mowing lawns in the hot summer heat, he accidentally goes a few inches, unintentionally, on a neighbors grass and they call the cops!!

Why didn't the neighbor just simply walk out there and make the young man aware, he of course would of apologized, and rectify the error. This has happened to me many times and I think nothing of it, one time a neighbor's lawn guy ran over my phone lines that were buried, and I had no phone service for nine days till phone company fixed! I certainly did not call the cops. Very clueless!!

The neighbors who called are lucky they were not arrested or cited, down here in Miami if you call 911 for a nonsensical ignorant non-emergency, like this one was, you could be in trouble, police officers have too handle robberies, rapes, burglaries, auto accidents, assaults etc.....no time for for nonsense. This young boy was NOT breaking the law, getting into too trouble, or any mischief, more young people should get summer jobs, I believe too stay out of trouble. This is to be proud of.

I certainly hope this was NOT racially motivated! That would be deplorable and mean. Just hope neighbors didn't think. Good luck to this young man and others like him, all kids who are working part time and learning skills, trying to be mature and responsible. Perhaps certain adults should try it too.

The article I read did not give the name of the neighbor who called the cops. Dont know whether it was a man or a woman or a couple? They gave the name of the young man, reggie, and I believe the first name of the nice lady who hired him, believe it was lucille, I forget the street name. The people who called the cops probably did it anonymously, I be embarrassed and humliated too for people too find out how petty and lame I was. Cops have REAL crimes to go to..not because of a little grass.

I think there's more too this story to this story that lets on. Why didn't the neighbor simply call her neighbor, or walk over and quietly alleviate the very small problem? Perhaps the neighbors do not like each other..and this was done out of spite and stupidity OR maybe racially motivated, which I hope is not the case, either way it should never of happened. I mean don't sweat the small stuff. The cops were probably not pleased with being called to this nonsense. The neighbors who called cops need to smarten up!

There is no more to the story other than the woman who called the police is obviously a racist and white supremist and should be jailed, no questions asked. As someone who grew up in Maple Heights in the 60's and 70's, I often cut grass for many people and no one ever called the police on me (of course I am white). She is yet another example of a racist who under Trump became unleashed and this is the new "Make America Great. Again" norm. What a disgrace.

Great Post and So True! This is getting to be a everyday occurrence. The cops are NOT being paid too respond too racist ignorant nut cases. They have robberies, rapes, accidents, murders, etc... too contend with. This person should of been heavily fined or arrested, I hope next time they are.

Here's an idea next time you want too call the police on a non emergency racist nonsensical call...call the white house and leave a message...I'm quite sure a operator or receptionist will take your call and concern. Leave the Police alone. They have enough crime to attend too without sorry ass ignorance. Then fine or arrest the caller for endangerment of our law force. That will stop it!

You are obviously clueless of what has happened to a great city people live in fear of going outside in Maple heights now look up the story as of July 12,2018. A very large group of people got into a fight at Stafford Park, one man is dead 5 other city police departments had to come in to assist but im sure they were all together for vacation bible study or on they way to a job interview what a freaking joke.

I understand your frustration. But there a riots, shootings, fights, etc.....in ALL races color and creed. The Las Vegas shootings were all caucasin, as the school shooting, and the shooting at the newspaper office. White shooter...white victims! And yes I realize in the africian-american community there are situations just as, if not more prevalent. Its all over, very sad, very bad..

But this particular situation was quite different. If the young man mowing accidentally went a few inches on her property line, of course he should of been told about it, no matter what his race. My question is WHY the next-door neighbor could not simply phone or walk over, the woman would of made the young man she hired aware, he would of apologized, and no harm done. No drama!!

Actually in some cities if you call in a non-emergency nonsense call to 911 the caller could be fined, cited or even arrested. While the cops are wasting their valuable time, there are accidents, injuries, robberies, fires, assaults, etc.....going on where the cops are needed, and that does include lawns.

I could see if the neighbor saw him peeking in windows, trying doorknobs and prowling around...much different scenario. But he or she knew it was just grass mowing, I think its highly commendable he is working on summer vacation, making a little money, learning the value of work ethics. He's NOT out making mischief or getting in trouble, and lets face it mowing grass in very hot weather is not an easy job. Perhaps the neighbor who called should of walked out with a glass of cold water or lemonade, and nicely told him his minor error. That would of been the Christian nice thing to do. The racism in this country has escalated so high, I pray for our country. Its needed now.
