Sounds like this idiot is clueless in boating safety.
The bilge pumps should have kicked in once the exhaust pass thru failed.
If he doesn't have SeaTow insurance he's gonna pay big time.
Thankfully all were rescued.
Coast Guard should take target practice on this idiot's boat and sink it for an artifical reef.

This guy is a poster boy for a manditory course in boating safety! He had a mob on board and was taking on water but didn't call a mayday! Obviously the boat was overloaded and the exhaust pass thru connection didn't have double clamps that are required for these critical connections! Thanks to Sea tow and the police a tragic incident was avoided! The owner of the boat had better get a clue, or he might not be so lucky next time!

Attention all idiots commenting:

You guys have no idea what you're talking about since you were not on the boat. I was on the boat and I saw the great job that the captain and his family did to keep everyone calm and safe. As a matter of fact, the captain did see the bilge alarm going off and that is how we knew that the boat was sinking. This malfunction was not the fault of the owners of the boat.

Please find a better way to spend your days instead of commenting on incidents that doesn't concern you. You have no knowledge about anything that occurred that day.

Thank you.

Although these people sound like a bunch of idiots, if a thru hull exhaust pipe seal went, and the auto bilge

(I'd assume a 40 ft sea ray is equipped with a serious auto-bilge considering the price and the mention of a bilge alarm by some so called passenger on here)

just could not keep up with the pace of the incoming water. If thats the case there must not have been much you could do as the motors (in board) would quickly be drowned in water and would be useless. So the boat probably had no power before anyone knew what was happening....

As im sure all people who buy 40' yachts inspect all the thru hull devices and there corresponding hoses for double clampings!?!?!

Agreed. No bilge pumps, and he had people below in the cabin while the boat was taking on water!!! Clueless boater.

I'll bet watching this character dock the boat would have been very entertaining.

The ankle deep water was IN the boat...not under the boat
