Fires, explosions and what investigators say may have been gunshots disrupted the placid back country north of Malta Tuesday night as a Morgan County man allegedly killed his sister, set fire to her house, then ignited a blaze at his own home before killing himself.

McCONNELSVILLE -Peggy Matthews could go on and on about her daughter. The words she uses to describe Abi - beautiful, wonderful, caring, full of love - come out of her mouth without hesitation, but with a quiver from the pain and hurt she's coping with today.

Homicide charges are expected to be filed today against a man who detectives say admitted to striking and killing a 35-year-old mother of three who was found dead Tuesday afternoon in her Malta apartment.

The Morgan County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a suspicious death that occurred in Malta on Tuesday.
