Guess again... I would bet the bike was a quiet one, with no loud pipes and this, along with the sounds of someone talking on the other end of the cell phone, contributed to the soccer-mom not hearing the bike. And of course, if you are not looking, you won't SEE the bike either!

Bike have loud pipes and vehicles have loud pipes....only thing that is said is "loud pipes save lives" not loud pipes make you invinciable.
Someone was probably in a hurry and not paying attention, my guess is it was the van (just a guess), bikes require the rider to pay attention to his surroundings and what is around him/her to avoid potholes, slippery surfaces, debris, etc.

Regardless, I hope the rider is ok.

Why always the cars fault ? I have seen many times these idiots on bikes try and outrun the car. Ever think the bike went through the stop sign without coming to a complete stop or perhaps ran the light ?? Just sit in that area and watch for youself how many cars and bikes blow through both the stop signs and traffic lights. And no loud pipes do not save lives, thay wake me up at 3 in the morning ripping up the street. Simply illegal, but the problem never is taken seriously by officers of the law... Bet if I ran around town with straight pipes on my truck, rest assured I would be pulled over and cited within 10 minutes...

If the van was taking a left she was coming from Fitchburg and going on the green light, I would guess and again only a guess the motorcycle was doing a right on red.

Read in my post, I said "just a guess"....which means I'm guessing because I do not know for a fact who's fault it was. I never said it WAS the vans fault.
And I live in an area where there is a lot of traffic and get woken up by loud vehicles, but even if the bikes or cars/trucks did n't have aftermarket exhausts, then the tractor trailers and heavy trucks with the chains clanging would wake one up also. You cannot please everyone.

Read the article again, it sounds like this happened well into the complex. The van driver came up took a right at the stop sign and then made a left into the WalMart parking lot while the bike was coming down from Hannaford. Not really enough information in the article to determine who was at fault.

This was NOT at the lights at the entrance/exit to the WalMart at Rt 2A, it was near the parking lot and access road which belongs to WalMart and has always been a bad design!

Fallon veterinary clinic was much closer, and he would get much better care.
He is probably still in the emergency room waiting to be seen, and bleeding out slowly.

Motorcycles should have airbags and bumper height regulations just like cars. Maybe also windshield wipers to get the bugs off you teeth.

No one ever seems to stop at the stop sign from Hannaford, they think they have the right of way from anyone going to Wal-Mart or Hannaford. I was led to believe the cycle was going 40mph maybe just a little fast. They have to drive fast to be cool!

He was flown to UMASS Medical Center in Worcester. The ambulance met the helicopter at the hospital's helipad.

Ya Know, you drive around on a two wheel vehicle, with almost zero protection, and you could even be the absolute best driver in the world BUT..... Your odds of this happening in your lifetime are very high. Forget about bashing the other driver. It could have been an expectant mother who got dizzy and hit the motorcyle, or a 35 year old male with a high fat diet who had a heart attach and hit you. Riding around with 1/8 inches of black leather and a "beanie" is not going to cut it.
