Bloomfield balloon rally launches Friday
Area residents will be able to watch, help launch and retrieve a dozen hot air balloons when the three-day San Juan River Balloon Rally kicks off Friday.

Making A List, Christmas Dinner, Old Man Winter
A week before Christmas, I am beginning to wonder if there is such thing as too much organization. Maybe I'm finally looking around and seeing what matters.
If I am more relaxed than I should be, is that a good sign? Last week my computer had its own agenda. I am always sorry when I can't prepare a column.
This week I've come to the conclusion that I can't and don't need to do it all. I realized I needed to make my list and some things just are not going to get done, for sanity's sake. What a wonderful holiday I have begun to anticipate.

Sometimes when you're feeling lowest, the real you is being summoned. Hopefully you can understand, maybe for the first time, how grand you are. You will discover that vulnerable does not mean powerless; to be scared does not mean you are lacking and uncertainty does not mean you are lost.
Those realizations alone will set you on a journey that will take you far beyond what you used to think of as the extraordinary. There is always a bright side.

Pam Thompson's second surgery has seemed to have gone well. Although there are more hurdles to overcome and there will be more healing time needed, there is hope that this can take place at home in Luna.
