Elmwood Hall dates to 1818

Thomas Davis Carneal, a speculator, builder, and amateur architect, had by 1820 accumulated an estate he called Elmwood, which comprised more than 1,000 acres in Northern Kentucky along the Ohio River, across and slightly west from Cincinnati, in what eventually became the city of Ludlow.

A Ludlow, Ky. man was sentenced Monday to 36 months in prison for financially exploiting a wealthy elderly woman out of more than $250,000. United States District Court Judge Danny C. Reeves also ordered 45-year-old Gordon Powell to forfeit a house on Hazelwood Drive in Fort Wright, Ky.

Fire destroys Fort Wright house

A house in Fort Wright was destroyed by fire at about 1 a.m. Sunday. The house in the 1600 block of Amsterdam Avenue was a total loss when firefighters from Fort Wright, Fort Mitchell, Park Hills and Ludlow fire departments arrived on the scene, Fort Wright firefighter Greg Aylor said Sunday.
