Well, isn't that a sweet deal? Let's deny emergency medical care to the heroes fighting the drug war and continue providing treatment to the international non-paying seeking obstetrics, etc.

Lets put it on paper and print a complete report as to how much monies are spent accordingly.

You wouldn't want to be be perceived as DISCRIMINATING against LAW ENFORCEMENT would you...?

Somebody please explain why we, US Citizens, have to pick up the tab for a basically illegal alien's medical expenses (illegal alien is someone who enters the country without the proper visa or other paperwork). To say that the "he was working with federal officials in the United States and Mexico to ensure that El Paso taxpayers do not bear the brunt of the cost of treating and securing patients from Mexico" is a crock of crap. TAXES will pay for that, whether they come from local or state, or from the federal government, WE STILL PAY FOR IT.

$47,000 that the county is trying to recoup from the the Mexican gov't? Yup, I see that money coming in. Getting the Mexican gov't to pay some of the medical bills? Yup, that's another bill I see getting paid.

What is the Mexican government doing to assist the Mexican police force? Anything?

Cobos is a Lunatic!!!! I will NOT allow my TAX dollars to be spent on Mexican citizens that are injured IN mexico to be treated here.
This is the responisibility of the government of Mexico to protect the welfare of its citizens. Dont demand and protest for these people's bills to be paid by taxpayers of the US when it should be from the Mexican Govt.
If the Mexican govt. wasn't so corrupt and based on the the Patron and Peon system, then maybe they would care about the plights of the poor, the injured civil servants, and murdered girls in the juarez desert.

Cobos DONT YOU DARE try to use my hard earned money to pay the hospital bills of people injured in Mexico that were probably corrupt to begin with and just got whacked by the competitors.

Well, we wouldn't have these problems if we didn't have drug prohibition. Same kind of things happened during alcohol prohibition. How did we solve that?

I can almost imagine this clown Cobos singing that song from the red hot chili peppers:
"Give it away, give it away, give it away now"
These freaking Liberal Democrats (and some Repubicans) are killing this country.

Cobos last name should be changed to "Bobos" (dumb in Spanish). First they say it does not cost a penny to the tax payers and now the truth is out,$47,000 has not been paid by the mexican government and they want us to foot the bill. Let us all bend over, drop our pants, and be f&*%$ed through the ass without KY.

Cliff;

We're not talking about drug prohibition. The issue is about paying for medical treatment of mexican government officials. Heck, we are still recouping $47,000 from the first person (chief of police from Juarez) that was admitted.

I have a $600 medical bill I have to pay for a condition I developed as a result of my combat wounds. I think I will send that bill the the morons of the El Paso county commissioners.

Via the net:

Judge Cobos is currently under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for involvement in public corruption charges involving several high-profile citizens and organizations in El Paso. His office, along with the offices of two County Commissioners (Miguel Teran and Luis Sarinana) and the homes of Commissioner Teran and a member of the board of managers of R.E. Thomason Hospital (Arturo Duran), was searched by the FBI for evidence of crimes involving bribery and mail and wire fraud.

cont...
Judge Cobos has also recently come under fire for his recent hiring of a long-time controversial El Paso political activist Jaime O. Perez as his new chief of staff.

Cobos' previous chief of staff, Travis Ketner, pled guilty to several felonies and is considered a key source of information in the FBI corruption investigation. The charging document to which Ketner pled guilty indicated that Cobos hired Ketner at the urging of former El Paso County Judge and well-known political operative Luther Jones and that Ketner was hired for the explicit purpose of securing bribes for Cobos and others.

Twice we have had to take in someone wounded involved in the war against drugs from Mexico to Thomason Hospital. I believe that instead of waiting for someone to get caught in the cross fire here in El Paso, we need to take preventive measures. This is a military issue that should be delt with at Fort Bliss where they have the necessary man power to confront this type of behavior. The El Paso Community has enough to worry about without having to be brought in the middle of the Mexican Drug War!

I don't think we the tax payers of this country sould have to pay for this war too. Having been in a situation where I needed help from my government and was denied at every turn. Like it is not bad enough that there are those who come into this country the legal way and they still get money from the government without ever having worked here.
So why would I be ok with taking care of the injured from this drug war. It needs to not be bought into this country. We are fighting wars of our own and we get no help from outside countries.
So for this Mayor who is suppose to be representing this state in this country that was a real idiotic thing to suggest.
Has someone from you family been hurt in that war? That would be the only reason for you to suggest such a thing. Now with that being said you should also consider letting the wounded be treated in Mexico. No matter if they are treated at the hospital here we the citizens are going to pay for it. But we will get denied health care because we can not pay for it.
