there should have been a stiffer penalty allowed for this man, he took the lives of 4 innocent people away by choosing to drive drunk and impaired. I think he should have gotten life without the chance for parole. that would have been a proper sentence. Our justice system sucks!

It really isn't a bad sentence when you think about it. The guy is in his 40's and he will have to serve at least 13 years of his sentence. Even then it is very unlikely he will get parole because this was his third DUI conviction. He will likely end up serving life in jail.

If it has went to trial it would have just cost our system a lot more money with the same end result. It would have only been 'symbolic' to do that and officially sentence him to life in prison.

WSAZ said the Prosecutor consulted the family and they agreed to the sentence.

I feel so bad for the family of the victims. I lost my beloved uncle in a very (eerily) similar manner. The guy that killed him got 12 years, but only has to serve 2 until he's eligible for parole. People should really think about the choices they make before sitting behind the wheel of a vehicle. In a second, many lives can be shattered. I don't hate the guy who took away my uncle, but I do think that 2 years is not enough time. I can't imagine losing that many people at once. It's one thing if a person makes one bad choice but when you have these repeat offenders who get in trouble again and again, it's hard to have mercy. God bless the families--I don't know how they're getting through it. It's been almost two years for my family, and there isn't a day that goes by that all of us don't grieve for him.
