Lightning on Friday is believed the cause of a 300-acre fire Sunday off Farm-to-Market Road 919 and Schoolhouse Road, according to Lone Camp VFD Chief Charlie Sims.

Residents near Mineral Wells Municipal Airport were saying 'not again' as for the third time in just over three years fire threatened their homes and businesses.

Fires did not seem to be such a threat earlier in the week, as Palo Pinto County Commissioners opted not to impose a county-wide burn ban, but commissioners will reconvene Tuesday to reconsider implementing such a ban.
