Power Outage Blacks Out Southwest Iowa
Parts of Southwest Iowa sat in the dark Sunday night after a power outage. Mark Reinders, a spokesperson for MidAmerican Energy, said 10,000 customers did not have power Sunday starting around 8:50 p.m. The areas primarily affected included Logan, Missouri Valley, rural parts of Pottawattamie County and sections of Council Bluffs.
Suzie A. Pinter, 61, of Logan, Iowa, formerly of Oglesby, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.

After seven years of service, Yuma Deputy Mayor Ross Hieb has resigned effective July 2. In a phone interview Monday afternoon from Iowa, Hieb said his resignation came after a family decision to move to that state, where they will reside on the family farm.
