Banner begets an ACLU lawsuit
“We refuse to yield to 'Gestapo' tactics of Littlestown Borough.”

The ACLU doesn't pick its cases based on whether locals see them as "minor imbroglios", and seldom files a case unless they think they will prevail under settled principles of Constitutional law. Littlestown most likely hasn't had the benefit of advice from counsel who have equivalent experience in First Amendment law, and will probably lose the case, thereby burning up taxpayer money because they were too dumb or stubborn to settle the claim. What citizens think doesn't matter. What the law is controls.

The ACLU gets such a bad reputation because people think all they do is go around starting trouble. People feel that way until it's their civil liberties being violated. I think the ACLU is great! I don't know the entire history of this case, but it sounds to me like this is a case that the Littlestown Borough should settle.

I would like to know just when these boros turned into home owner associations. They are growing up right around our properties, raising our taxes only to bully us into submission.
