LIBERTY, Ind.-- A Union County woman will likely face charges in the death of her daughter, investigators said.
Police found 3-year-old Erial Summers dead Saturday at her Liberty home.
Her mother, 37-year-old Sarah Summers, pleaded guilty in May to child neglect and is currently serving a 180-day sentence on home detention.
That conviction came after police found Erial, then 2 years old, and her 4-year-old brother wandering dirty and partially clothed in the parking lot of Patriot Pointe Apartments.
Officers said their mother was asleep and passed out inside their home under the apparent influence of drugs.
Police reports show that the children said they had eaten only a mustard and ketchup sandwich and were hungry.
The children were taken into protective custody, but at some point were returned to their mother.
Investigators said they expected to charge Summers in her daughter's death pending the results of an autopsy and toxicology reports, which should be available later this month.

Nothing has been said about this they must be waiting on results

why would they return those babies to a mother like that, that is why toddlers end up missing or dead

Totally agree with you I hope that we hear something soon if not then I am afraid that this is going to be one more little girl who was failed by the system don't know who to blame here her mother or CPS. Probably both.

erial died of being severe ashmatic. i just had head surgery when kids got out n they did not have that to eat n were not dirty.i was on a priscription my babysitter neice left after i laid down. i only pleaded guilty cause i could get home to see my babies. not for a million dollars would i harm my children. they are a gift n a blessing to me.. erial was in the hospital daily for ASHMA ATTACKS!on a nebulizer n 2 inhalers daily.. for all of u who want to stir up crap n know nothing should stay out of our buisness. its all hearsay.i break down all day begging for my baby to be home i miss her so much n she was spoiled n could put a smile on your face everyday..she was my angel!god bless and please watch what u say when all u can do is make up gossip dont u know the lord not to judge,i'm innocent!!!

everyone is causing more harm n know nothing except what the news put which is what they want to put they cut out everything just to make a story look good!!!

Why are they investigating an asthma attack??? Why did they spend 8 hours investigating your apartment??? All for an asthma attack??? And I am sure the police lied about the kids being dirty and hungry, you know they love to take children from their parents...really...get a life...they would not have put that in the report unless it was true. It should not take a month to investigate a simple asthma attack, maybe 1-2 days to verify that with an autopsy. Why did you recently fail a required drug screen if you are so worried about keeping your kids??? There are just so many questions that need to be answered, tell us mother....

You just had head surgery??? I thought in a different post from your cousin that you were up all night in the hospital with Erial?? You seem to have an excuse for everything, what is it this week, Lupus, Migraine, back trouble, Cancer, Heart disease, OCD, paranoia??? I'm sure you can think of something to convince the doctors to give you more pain meds and nerve pills. You stay messed up all the time, it was not just that one time you had "head surgery" that you were neglecting your children. Did they figure out how to unlock their bedroom door? Probably, that is why they were not locked in their room when they got out wondering around the parking lot half naked. You know it is not gossip, you know the truth,along with a lot of other people. What about the guy that is wanted by the police, did they not search your apartment like 2 weeks before Erial died for this man? Seems there was reports of him staying at your apartment. We all would love some truthful answers mommy dearest. If you could find it at all possible to tell the truth for once, if not keep the BS to yourself.

Thank you for your words! She is an evil woman and I can't believe that she can live with herself after what has happened. She use to lock them in a their bedroom? Doesn't that just make you think of that wonderful little boy Marcus Fiesel? I don't know all the details of the investigation, but I do know that she had blood on her crib, and something wrong with her ribs. Other people have said that she had her teeth knocked out. I think mommy dearest can't answer the questions. I also heard there was blood around the home and also that Erial's ribs were broken. Actually heard that the day she passed, while the police were investigating for 8 hours, they were taking a lot of pictures of the blood, among other things in the apartment. She is a very evil woman, no matter what she might get on here and say, every word that comes out of her mouth is a lie. I am just so happy that the CPS decided not to let her have James back until after the autopsy and toxicology test come back. How can she get on here and say everything is hearsay and gossip, when all anyone has to do is go down to the courthouse and get her records. Not just in Union County, but also Franklin County. Hopefully the results will come back very soon.

I was told by someone in her so called family that she went and picked James up at the Dunn Center in Richmond. And was given back custody. Maybe they are just saying that to get the light off them idk. But she makes me sick! And everyone in her family that defends her makes me sick, also makes me think of the other children in the family. Are they safe? I hope the results are in soon!!!

ok if u have a three year old and u still have there crip there going to crawl up in i should no i watched that baby gurl sometimes she loved that crib y idk but she loved to play in it i cought her many times crawling in it and i would have to get her out and tell her no and all that stuff but any kid three year old see a crib there going to think hey that looks cool i wanna play in it they wont care if its to small or not from wat i saw of it they think its the coolest thing in the world lol i no all this talkin and stuff is just not to care for but just leave it be PLEASE THE POOR CHILD IS 6 FEET UNDER NOW just let it go just do it for the rest of her children her oldest does get on here so please just stop the gossip k k k k k

she has not got james back yet but im not agreeing wit anyone but she seems like a good mother too me even tho one of hers are gone but idk i guess its kinda hard to picture someone killing there own baby gurl ya idk this is a mess i just wish that report would come back soon remember erial were all missing u baby gurl

ONE if she knows that one of her kids gets on this site, WHY does she start so many topics? TWO If you seen that child climb in and out of the crib that many times, weren't you concerned for her safety? Who cares if they love it. It's about their safety. I mean I wouldn't let my kid sleep in an crocodiles mouth just because it loved it.
