Arthur Raske, 91, of Menominee, Mi. passed away Thursday, March 28 at Bay Area Medical Center, Marinette.

The latest U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics ranked unemployment in Otsego County 11.1 percent as of December 2012.

Gaylord Community Schools officials had a pleasant surprise when they tallied up their student numbers after last Wednesday's count date - the district had picked up 55 students over last fall's enrollment of 3,132 to 3,187 this year.

"My philosophy about volunteering, actually the same philosophy I have about life, is that everybody should find something that stirs their heart," said Jennifer Paffi, new coordinator of the Otsego County United Way Volunteer Center.
