County clerk Rich Vargo reported the turnout Monday, noting as well that polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in four locations Tuesday: Keats, Riley Centre, Leonardville and Sedalia Church.

Local authorities now believe a small tornado may have touched down in northern Riley County, causing damage previously attributed to a series of storms May 18.

Several city and school elections are being held in the area, but probably the more notable and gaining the most attention is the Manhattan City Commission race, with seven candidates trying for three positions.
